The Water Used for Particle Sizing

The most commonly used liquid medium in particle sizing is water. Users could choose distilled water, purified water, deionized water, clean tap water, and well water. But no matter what kind of water is used, the water should be pure and impurity-free. And the temperature of the water should be consistent or close to room temperature, particularly not below the dew point temperature. This is to avoid fog forming on the sample cell, which could affect particle size test. When tap water or well water is directly used, due to the large temperature difference between the water and room temperature, fog would be easily formed. To prevent the above situation, tap water or well water should be stored in a barrel for 24 hours. This ensures the purity of the medium and its temperature is consistent with the room temperature.
